I wish I knew the original source of this pic to credit the owner. Some sites say it is prosthetic make up and others say that it is bruising from a lightning strike, yikes! Either way, this photo is a perfect example of what Fibromyalgia would look like if it were a visible disease.
I remember when I first started having symptoms of Fibromyalgia I would ask my family and coworkers if they could see any bruising on my back or on the back of my arms. I would feel bruising on my legs. I would think to myself, “Man you must have really banged your leg up against something today.” When I would lift up my pant leg…nothing. I thought I was going crazy. When the other symptoms started showing up like painful, itchy, tingly, vibrations under my skin it was almost too much to bear. I was walking around with a hairbrush to itch my skin. I thought to myself, “Yes, I’m am most definitely insane!”
